It will be hurricane season in September. Chances of a storm impacting us are very low, but we’re adding trip insurance to our rentals and recommend that you do the same.

Getting here:

Avon is about 4-4.5 hours from Richmond, VA. Driving is the only option.

Things to do:

  • The beach…duh

  • Kayak/standup paddle board

  • Learn to windsurf

  • Fishing

  • Visit…

    • the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum

    • the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse

    • Ocracoke island for the day (free car ferry)

Where to stay:

We recommend staying in Avon, if possible, or anywhere from the north end of Avon to the east/north end of Frisco.

AirBnbs tend to be the best option and we’ll be there at the start of shoulder season, so there’s still lots of availability. Let us know if you run into any issues finding a good spot.
